ASCII Video
Real-time WebGL ASCII art renderer. Converts any video into live ASCII characters on your GPU.
Getting Started
- Pick a clip — Use the dropdown (top-left) to switch between built-in video clips.
- Your own video — Paste a URL or drag & drop a video file onto the page.
- Webcam — Click Webcam to use your camera as the source.
Visual Effects
- Color modes — Original keeps video colors. Green, Amber, Ice Blue, and White apply a monochrome tint.
- CRT — Barrel distortion, scanlines, vignette, and subtle flicker for a retro monitor look.
- Bloom — Adds a soft glow around bright characters.
- Audio — Enables sound and makes brightness react to the audio frequency spectrum.
Tuning
- Resolution — Controls how many character columns are rendered (Ultra 200 to Potato 50).
- FPS — Target frame rate from 6 to 240. Lower values give a choppy, stylized look.
- Ramp — The set of characters used, ordered dark-to-bright. Pick a preset or type your own.
- Invert — Reverses the character ramp (swap light and dark).
Capture
- Snap — Downloads a PNG screenshot of the current frame.
- Record — Records a WebM video (click again to stop and download). Includes audio if enabled.
- Fullscreen — Toggles browser fullscreen mode for an immersive experience.
